Size guide
Every measurement below is taken off the garment itself, laid flat, in inches. The run is graded from a size 30 — the size we cut and fit first.
Garment measurements (inches)
Waist is measured flat across the top of the waistband — double it for the full circumference. A size 30 measures 15.25 flat, so 30.5 around.
| Size | Waist (flat) | Rise | Inseam | Leg opening |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 28 | 14.25 | 13.5 | 29.25 | 10.75 |
| 30 | 15.25 | 13.75 | 29.5 | 11 |
| 32 | 16.25 | 14 | 29.75 | 11.25 |
| 34 | 17.25 | 14.25 | 30 | 11.5 |
| 36 | 18.25 | 14.5 | 30.25 | 11.75 |
The inseam moves a quarter inch per size, 29.25 on a 28 through to 30.25 on a 36, so the leg breaks in roughly the same place across the run.
How to measure
Waist
Lay a pair you already like flat, button them, and measure straight across the top of the waistband. Compare that number to the waist column.
Rise
From the top of the waistband down to the crotch seam. Ours runs high — 13.75 inches on a 30.
Inseam
From the crotch seam to the hem. Graded a quarter inch per size, 29.25 inches on a 28 through to 30.25 on a 36.
Leg opening
Straight across the hem. This is what makes the leg read wide rather than straight.
Care
Wash with similar colours
A vintage wash gives up colour early. Keep them with their own kind, especially the first few times.
Reshape whilst damp
Pull the legs and waistband back into shape while the denim is still wet. It sets as it dries.
Warm iron whilst damp
If you iron them, iron warm and while they are still damp.
Do not bleach, tumble dry or dry clean
Hang them to dry. Bleach, a hot drum and solvent each take something out of the cloth that does not come back.
Fit questions
How do they fit?
True to size, wide through the leg, high in the rise. If you want a more baggier fit then you can size up
How long is the inseam?
It moves with the size. 29.25 inches on a 28, 29.5 on a 30, up to 30.25 on a 36 — a quarter inch per size, so the break lands in roughly the same place rather than stacking hard on the smallest size and running short on the largest.
Worth saying plainly: your waist does not tell us your height, so this is an average rather than a promise. If you are tall or short for your waist, buy the waist you need and hem the length.
How should I wash them?
Wash with similar colours. Reshape whilst damp. Warm iron whilst damp.
Do not bleach. Do not tumble dry. Do not dry clean.
Will they stretch out?
100% cotton gives a little at the waist and knees with wear, then recovers after a wash. It will not bag out the way stretch blends do.
